So far in this series, we have covered a few different qualities of how energy affects our lives. Before we move on to the history of spiritual practices, let’s go through a quick checkpoint to clarify the applicable uses of this knowledge for mapping energy.
Energy Revisited: The Importance of Release
If you assign a charge to energy (through emotions or intentions) and then hold onto it, you lock your energy into a potential state. Fresh energy is then siphoned to these tethers, causing them to grow until the smallest infraction leads to a major catastrophe. Until you release the energy through action, it will continue to sit there.
Releasing this energy allows it to return to a neutral, usable state. We must be wise in how we release it, aiming for what is beneficial, not harmful. The "traditional" method of sending dense energy to the Earth or water is no longer sustainable. We must learn to transmute it ourselves, conscientiously and harmoniously.
Energetic Memory: The Three Libraries
Energetic Memory has many forms, which can be attributed to the three main areas of our Foundations series:
Energetic Memory of Spirit: This is where we access the records of past, future, simultaneous, and divergent lives. By linking into this library, we can learn from past decisions, prepare for future challenges, and understand our connection to the souls we share this life with.
Energetic Memory of Body: This is where we access the energy of our DNA and our evolutionary path. Tapping into this library helps us understand the truth behind myths (like venomous dragons) and reminds us of our deep interconnection with the natural world. It teaches us to integrate with our environment rather than trying to dominate it.
Energetic Memory of Mind (Epigenetics): This is how traumatic events turn genetic tags on and off, affecting our behaviors and those of our descendants. When we stand against harmful behaviors and promote healthier social dynamics, we can begin to turn off the survival genes that cause anxiety and turn on the genes for cooperation and civility.
Energy Fields and Chakras: Your Personal Anatomy
Your energy is structured in a series of interpenetrating fields, all originating from your physical body.
The Physical Body: Your densest and most foundational field.
The Etheric Field: Your "contagious mood," the subtle layer that transfers emotional charges.
The Astral Field: Your connection to the collective consciousness, the broker that projects and receives energy, shaping your reality based on your focus.
The Auric Field: The sum total of all your fields, representing your presence in the world.
Chakras: These are not mystical spinning wheels, but the spiritual term for the very real ganglia—nerve clusters that act as sensory and regulatory centers in your body.
From Energy to History
Understanding energy in all its capacities is more necessary to your path than memorizing the history of any specific tradition. A plant can be both poisonous and medicinal; knowing that is one thing, but how you choose to use it is something else entirely.
With this deep understanding of the raw material of spirituality, we are now prepared to explore how humanity has used, misused, and shaped this energy throughout time. In the next section, we begin our journey through history.
