We are getting through energy bit by bit. I know that the last post was quite extensive. Please make sure that you are taking your time with these posts because I know this information can be dense. Also, you are welcome to email me or comment for questions and further discussion.
That being said, let’s continue our little swim through our personal energy fields.
The next one to go over is the Astral Energy Field. This energy field reaches out a bit further from your Physical Body than the Etheric Field does. This is a good time to point something out though. Most imagery or artistic depictions of the energy fields show them as layers where one ends and the next begins. It is important to note that that is not the case. They each begin within the Physical Body and expand outwards from there. That’s another reason I say the Physical Body is so important to take care of because health issues affect your energy fields and energy passing through your energy fields affects your physical health. It is not so much a vicious cycle as it just is what it is.
This field is where that cycle of energy coming in and going out is the most apparent or “observable.” This energy field is the point where things are projected outward from you into the world. It is also where you are receiving energy sent to you from the world. That is why it is called the Astral Field because it is your connection to the layers of Astral existence of the world commonly referred to as the Astral Planes.
We are not going to go into Astral Projection here. I may write a post about that in the future, but you don’t need to perform Astral Projection to understand the Astral Energy Field or Astral Energy itself. Let’s break this down by starting with understanding Astra Energy in the broader sense.
Astral Energy
Astral Energy is energy that pools and collects to shape the energetic world around you. The sayings of “what you think you become,” “dress for the job you want,” or “you can have anything you desire if you focus on it,” are all examples of how Astral Energy works. They are a little shortsighted in the grand scheme but still hold nuggets of healthy information. You see, we as humans have a collective consciousness. And we share that with other forms of consciousness in the energetic world. Consciousness was once believed to only be a human trait but we are finding more and more that even plants have access to a type of conscious thought process. Trees, for example, can send messages through their roots and the fungus in the soil to other trees. If a tree is attacked by invasive and destructive parasites it can let other trees in the area know this is happening through that communication network. The other trees can then switch on genes to start producing specific toxins to protect themselves from the parasites.
That is a very physical process but it is leading to the study of consciousness in plants. There are already ongoing studies of consciousness in other animals. But the ability to assess a threat, react, communicate it, and then the recipients of the communication take action to prevent the threat from growing. This is all a part of consciousness because of the utilization of Awareness and Understanding. Astral energy taps into this collective consciousness.
Earlier in the Foundations series, I stressed the need for harmony and the realization that we are a part of not apart from the world around us. This is why. What you do affects the energy of the whole and it reflects on you. Some people call this Karma (it is so not, that is a whole other concept) while others may call this the Rule of Three or Law of Return. In science it's known as Newton’s Third Law, every action has an equal and opposite reaction. What I have found from my work over the years though is that the return is less “revenge” driven as some of those beliefs imply. It is more that what you are putting out is shaping the energy around you. The more you put out harmful projections the more the collective conscious surrounding you will mirror that. Basically what you are projecting out is being interpreted as what you want so it is just giving you what you are asking for. It is not a, “what goes around comes around,” as much as it is, “you attract the things you focus on.”
Astral energy will create situations responding to what you send to the collective conscious. Think of someone who is always saying they need healing in their life. They go through doctors or therapists like kids go through candy after Halloween. They refuse to allow themselves to heal from the things that broke them. And then they seem to have more stuff piled up on them. I have already told a few people, “Have you tried not healing? Have you tried to just live?” The energy they are putting out is, “I need to heal. I always have to heal. My purpose is healing.” The world is responding by saying, “Ok if you want always to be healing then here is something else you will need to heal.” This goes back to the ideas of planetary retrogrades and such.
When I first got started with everything years ago. I read astrology books of course and learned how to do natal charts and evaluate them and everything. Retrograding of planets wasn’t a huge deal to be discussed back then. But today it is one of the most prevalent things people talk about ESPECIALLY in social media circles. I feel like I’m watching people take planetary retrogrades to such an extreme as though they want to hide under the blankets the entire time. A planetary retrograde gets MORE attention in my opinion than a Friday the 13th does now. And all of these people report these major adverse effects in their lives during these periods. Well yeah, cause when you have that many people GLOBALLY locked onto this thought of, “OMG MERCURY IS GOING RETRO. BAD SHIT’S ABOUT TO HAPPEN,” you are bringing it to fruition.
A friend of mine once said, “This (I can’t remember the planet) retrograde is kicking my ass. How are you doing?” I replied, “Um…I’m fine. Actually, I’ve had some pretty cool things happening lately.” I suggested they stop following all of that trendy bullshit because they were just bogging themselves down in the focus on negativity.
On the opposite end of this, you see people succeeding at things in life. They may be doing something very similar to you but for some reason, they are just going further and making waves. I guarantee you it is because they are not just focused on what they are doing. They are focused on SUCCEEDING at what they are doing. Astral energy isn’t always being shaped to adversely affect your life. It is shaped to what you want it to be. If you want positive and successful you have to project that so that astral energy can reflect that in your worldview.
Astral Energy Field
And that brings us to the Astral Energy Field itself and how it operates. Again the field extends outwards from your Physical Body. It does not carry the same information as the Etheric Field but they do overlap and communicate with each other. When I spoke about intentions I said that they do not act independently. Intentions need emotional control, values, and forces of the mind to make them intentional and purposeful. If those three do not align with your intentions then your intentions will go awry. The Etheric Field is where emotions and values dance. Forces of the Mind on the other hand have to be enacted from the Physical Body.
The Astral Energy Field harvests this information from the Etheric and Physical fields to project outwards into the world around you. Energetic frequencies that resonate with what you are projecting attract towards you like a Siren’s song. If you are projecting success and fruition with confidence and openness you will find opportunities coming your way. People looking for or needing what you offer will find you. If you are projecting sorrow and grief you will project that and those who are also suffering will gravitate towards you.
Both of those examples are neutral responses. It may seem like a “negative” response to have people full of grief coming to you, but that is a conditioning of society today. We are taught to mask our suffering and hide it away. Yet there is so much power and healing when people can lament together. It allows for people to be witnessed and provides a safe environment to express pain without fear of judgment. The Astral Field connects us to this collective whole of consciousness to bring about amazing opportunities like that.
You can think of your personal Astral Field like the Mist in the Percy Jackson books. Or, if you are not familiar with that example, you can think of the old stories of the Fae and their power to Glamour themselves and appear as something different. Your Astral Field will not only contract and expand like the Etheric Field; it can shapeshift as well. And while invisible to most people (yes some can see Astral energy innately and anyone can train to see it), the Astral Fields will recognize similar countenances. Your Astral Field is what connects you to the person next to you and the person across the world from you. As it sifts and traverses through the Astral Planes (again you don’t need to do Astral Projection for this) it will connect you to other energies as well.
A great example of this is how much people say going into nature regularly is healing. It's a true statement and not just hippie-dippie nonsense. True nature, not cultivated for aesthetics nature, has a lot of high-frequency energy that breaks up dense low-frequency energy trapped in your energetic fields. We can talk about a shrub that managed to grow despite dense leaf litter and reduced sunlight from the taller trees. That shrub’s resilience and perseverance energy is a part of that natural space and is ripe for you to soak in. In the Foundations post “The Light,” I talked about how the only color of light proven to reduce and stop headaches is green. When you are out in nature you are surrounded by all that greenery. What you’re getting is a super dosage of green light. For you to see the green of the leaves, the leaves are absorbing all the other colors of light and reflecting the green light. So while it may “appear” as normal light you are seeing green lights all around you. This is easing your mind of stress and creating a comforting and relaxing field. The air you are breathing is cleaner and less polluted which is more true the further away you are from large cities. This is your Astral Field entering this area and the area responding in kind by being a passive caretaker of you. It “sees” you by your Astral Field.
Not everyone experiences this kind of harmonic expression in nature though. Some people fight tooth and nail to be miserable. If they project outwards going into nature that the idea is dumb, hippie-dippie non-sense, or “not science,” then they will be seen and met in kind by nature. Nature will say that energy doesn’t belong here and it will do what it needs to protect itself. These people will often be met with biting insects, “coincidentally” touch the poison ivy or similar, or not be able to find great footing tripping over everything.
Or someone might just be in such a funk that they can’t experience the healing benefits. A person suffering in grief doesn’t need nature first. They need to get that grief out in the company of people who understand it. Nature, while conscious, does not understand HUMAN grief. Nature doesn’t even really care about our grief or suffering. So that person would do better in a sitting circle to let their story be heard. Now combine a sitting circle outside in nature and you can see faster healing and recovery for that person.
You see…nature doesn’t give anything for free though. That’s why I remind people nature is about harmony instead of peace. Harmony means everything does its part in giving and receiving. When you go into nature for healing you are giving away the energy that you have been holding onto. That dense energy is absorbed into the area like a rich fertilizer to be cleansed and transformed. This is reflected in the physical realm because the best fertilizer for your plants is manure, aka literal shit. It's transactional. And the broker for those transactions is your Astral Energy Field. It has read your emotional well-being and state of mind. Let’s think of starting a new career and the shrub.
Your Astral Field sees you are doing what you can to be successful in a new career that you started. But you reach a point where you are hitting a bit of a wall. Your Astral Field puts out feelers for some help. A friend connects to a feeler and says, “Hey, take it easy for a day. Go on a nature hike or something. Get some fresh air.” The Astral Field sends that suggestion to your Mind with some extra oomph. You decide to do that and invite your friend along or to show you a place they know. The transaction here is you gain a wise suggestion and they gain feeling valued.
Let’s now say the friend bows out on going but does suggest a nice area to visit. You go alone and as you walk the wooded path, sandy beach, rugged terrain, etc. you begin to ease into the moment. You find yourself enjoying the time away. While you’re relaxing though, hard deals are being struck in the Astral Planes. Your Astral Field is haggling away trying to get what you need. It meets with the Astral Field in the area and says, “Hey, we are starting a new adventure in life. And it's getting a little hard to proceed. Can you give us anything to help us out?”
The area will take a look at you and say, “Hmm…I have this Honeysuckle shrub deeper in. Persistent little thing. I can give you some of that persistence. Also, this vine started growing a few years back on a young oak tree, but the tree kept growing and didn’t get strangled out. I have some resilience too. What can you give me?”
Your Astral Self can say, “We have worry and doubt by the wagonload if you want some of that?”
“Hmm those are tasty and very nutritious,” says nature, “but I also see you have some irritability. I love the spicy tingle that gives. If you sprinkle on some of that I can season the persistence and resilience with some creativity. You know, to re-spark the inspiration.”
“DEAL!!” screams your Astral Field. The lines are signed and witnessed. The bargain is made. The “currencies” begin exchanging. And just as you are about to leave a butterfly lands on your hand for the briefest of seconds. You take a deep breath and leave none the wiser that you were a haggler in a bazaar. Yet you feel refreshed and new. And when you next look at all the challenges that ground you to a halt before you find yourself coming up with new creative solutions and plowing through them thinking, “Wow…why couldn’t I see through all this before?”
There isn’t much to do to “exercise” the Astral Field. The main thing to do is become aware of it. Being aware of your emotional well-being and state of mind is all you need. Once you are aware of that you can better understand the opportunities you need to say yes to and the ones you need to say no to. Saying no is one of my favorite things to do. It comes with knowing what is going to help you with your current state of being and what is going to hinder you. That goes back to discernment. Sometimes people can or will read your Astral Field and know just how to hook you enough to take more from you when you are in a vulnerable state. They will vampire your energy very quickly and without remorse.
This is why you want to develop this awareness of your Astral Field. That way you can know how to focus your energy in a way that attracts only what you need and not just projecting it everywhere hoping for miracles. My grandmother used to put out cat food for the large amount of stray cats at her home. Then one day she looked out the door to see a raccoon eating the food. She never chased it away. That one raccoon became a family of raccoons and before long she was feeding the raccoons first then setting out more food for the cats that the food was initially for. It's a funny little story, but also a good representation of life. If your Astral Field works overtime throwing out all kinds of feelers, you will still attract what you need. But you will also find yourself attracting others who will gladly attack you. Ever tried to pet a wild raccoon? They are bipolar and have very sharp teeth and claws. Their instincts are more fight than flight too. And people are much the same.
Solid foundations with Values and Forces of the Mind are how you keep that from happening though. Learning your unique boundaries is how to stabilize your Astral Energy Field. If anything, that is the number one practice to get acquainted with your Astral Field. When you place boundaries, not rules, you are giving your Astral Field parameters that it can use for discernment. The reason boundaries and rules are different is that boundaries are flexible while rules are rigid. I’m sure I have said this before but there is no reason to not put repetition in my posts. Rules create weaknesses and stress points. They are guaranteed to be broken creating conflict for ourselves and others. Boundaries, on the other hand, come with understanding yourself and what is healthy for you versus what is not.
Boundaries come from being open to exploration, discussion, honesty, etc. A healthy sex life is a perfect example of this in action from the Astral Field to Boundaries. I spent many years heavily engrossed in church views and purity culture/mindset. That stuff sticks with a person. Getting told what is right and wrong in sex is a conditioning that breaks you down and forces you to deny yourself. Some people go extreme when they find freedom from that mindset. They take go hard or go home very literally and end up in all kinds of situations or experiences. Others take a long time to break free and before they do end up sacrificing a lot of themselves to try and please their sexual partners even if they are not fully enjoying it. I decided after some rocky relationships and attempts at relationships to spend some time just being single and having SAFE no strings sexual encounters. I decided I wanted to explore sex more after a long time of being kind of prudish about it.
Through those experiences, I learned how to voice my likes and dislikes. I learned how to be flexible on things I once held rigid rules about. I learned that I could revisit things I “didn’t like” before and could end up enjoying them with someone else; showing me that each partner brought something different to the table *cough bed. I learned how to excite others and find their sexual “glimmers.” I learned how to be transactional in sexual encounters so we both received maximum pleasure while also exhibiting maximum respect towards each other. But what I learned the most from that time was how closed off people are to those kinds of open, communicative, and explorative sexual encounters. And it's not that they didn’t want to experience them, it was that they were scared of the freedom that those encounters allowed. I became uncharted territory for a lot of those partners causing them to freeze up and not know what to do. Some would want to come back and others would not, preferring the safety nets they had built for themselves over the assumed rights and wrongs of sexual encounters. But the difference was it was always communicated that it was more than they had expected or done before. There were never any hard feelings and everything was always carried out with respect and understanding.
Denying yourself experiences of any kind in life denies parts of who you are. Denial of self in any capacity opens chinks in your armor allowing parasites to find their way in and exploit you. The Astral Self needs you to explore who you are. It needs you to find out what boundaries you can put in place. If not then it will welcome anything that comes to it because it is going to try desperately to fill any void you have in your being. It is always going to be looking for the things that can help you grow and flourish to become the best you. If something harmful comes along but it fits the void it can get taken in. At that moment you have poisoned energy in you. This can again be unhealthy sexual behaviors but it can also be drug usage, Until you sit down with yourself and begin to fully appreciate and explore who you are that poison will continue to stick firmly to you. When you establish healthy flexible boundaries you find those chunks of poison and realize you shouldn’t be holding onto them anymore. You learn to let them go and your Astral Field takes note. It can then recognize similar energies and know better how to protect you from letting those things back in. That buzz phrase, “Protect your peace,” is related to your Astral Field. That is the piece of yourself that works to both define AND protect your peace creating as little conflict in your life as possible. Conflict does help us grow, sure, but we want to grow in a way that conflict becomes less frequent rather than more frequent. The more you grow as a person the more the Astral Field will connect you to people who will RESPECTFULLY challenge you and/or HONESTLY support you.
These posts just keep getting longer. Part of me wants to apologize but at the same time, I wish I had something to read or go by when I was younger and first exploring these things. Most of the books at that time focused on chakras or equating the energy fields to bubbles around you without much information about the differences between them. And today’s books I feel talk about them even less. The energy fields are kind of an “old school” ideology and I feel they often get pulled out of the broom closet with a quick dusting every once in a while. Most of the time just to say, “Envision your energy as a shield around you to keep everything out.” …..you have to let stuff in too though. If you box out everything you end up missing out on things that could really count. Back to sex life and purity culture for a second, there are quite a lot of miserable people because they are “stuck” in relationships that do not satisfy all of their needs. Making your energy fields into “shields” is just going to do that on a wider scale. And honestly, energy is a precious resource to be wasting it trying to hide from the world.
Thank you as always for reading along. I will see you next time with the Auric Field aka the Aura. There is a good bit to cover there as well. Until then, LIVE OUT LOUD!
